Life Skills Club
This year we began a 'Life Skills' Club at Northwood. The aim is to teach children skills that they can use now and in the future, and take into their adult life. These skills will include cooking, sewing, first aid, gardening/growing, and budgeting. This first term we focused on basic cooking with just a few cheap, ingredients. We have made scrambled egg on toast, pizza, pasta, and biscuits. The children have learnt that with flour, eggs, bread and butter (and sometimes a little bit of sugar), you can create many different and mostly healthy, meals. Next term we will focus on Emergency First Aid. Below are some photos and comments from the children about the activities:
Willow-Rose - 'Making pasta was the hardest and scrambled eggs was the easiest'
Saffie - Making the pizza, scrambled eggs and pasta was simple and fun'
Faith - My favourite was making pizza because I learnt to use the knife safely'
Sebastian - ' I liked cooking because it was creative and fun'
Temi - 'I liked making the scrambled eggs - it tasted really nice and I've never had it before - I will make it again at home!'
Chloe - 'I learnt how to make pasta and make different shapes with it'
Riley - 'My favourite food to make was the scrambled eggs'
