Week 1.7

Friday Round-up Week 1.7 (20th Oct '23)

We had our first Stay & Learn of the new school year on Tuesday. We completed a comprehension on The Windrush Generation to link in with Black History Month and discussed our reading habits. It was great to see so many parents in attendance.

We completed our work on mountains and deserts in Geography and assessed our progress in arithmetic. We have had some long discussions about our reading habits and begun our Reading Journey - aiming to read lots of quality books by the end of the year.

Thoughts about our week:

"I have really enjoyed the first half-term of Year 6. I have learnt so many new things like how deserts and mountains are formed. It has been very interesting and I can't wait to learn more. Year 6 also has a very good variety of books. I love it!"  Lexi

"I've enjoyed our first term because it made me feel really secure and happy in Year 6. My favourite moment was going to Thamesmead Library and how we got to choose a book to bring back to school. It helped me to discover different authors and different types of books. I have gone back to the library with my family to get more books."  Richie

"I've enjoyed the first term of Year 6 because at first I was really worried about the work and how I'd find the teachers. Both are really nice and always helping me with work and keeping me safe throughout the school year."  Tiahna

"I enjoyed learning about mountains. It really helped me expand my knowledge about them."  William

"Learning about mountains and deserts was very interesting. I learnt that deserts are not always hot and sandy and that Antarctica is a desert!"  Rishi
