Hello Valeria it's good to hear from you. I can see you have been multiplying using whole numbers  but how did you get on with multiplying decimals? You have also done some work on Black Lives Matter that's great!!!! What have you learnt so far? What do you think people around the world need to do to stop this awful behaviour?

 

Have you had a look at JAZZ HARPER SPACE EXPLORER? (weeks 11, 12 & 13) It's a great story with short comprehensions and activities for you to try. You don't have to do them all at once. Have a go and let me know how you get on.laugh

Thank you Gabriel for sharing your work about visiting your grandparents in Australia. Can you remember the work we did in school on personification? You could read through your work and see where you could add some personification to help make your story hook the reader in even more. For example, The iron/metallic bird swallowed its prey quickly and quietly. (The passengers boarded the plane quickly or the passenger rushed to board the plane) Have a go and let me know how you get on.laugh

WEEK 12

We are carrying on with our reading comprehension JAZZ HARPER SPACE EXPLORER. Below are chapters 7,8,9 & 10. There is a final chapter that brings the story to a close. WEEK 11

Maths this week is on decimals.  We are continuing on with our topic on Buddhism. The focus is why do Buddhists meditate.  English is based on a book called JAZZ HARPER SPACE EXPLORER.  You read a chapter and answer the questions based on the chapter. There is also an activity sheet for you to complete too. There are 10 video chapters for you to listen to and follow along with questions and activities to complete. Here are chapters 1 - 3. I will upload the answers later during the week.  Enjoy.

Hi Year 5 I hope you are enjoying the lovely sunny weather.  How did you get on with the embedded learning activities from last week? Did any of you manage to read the information about John Constable and  paint your own landscape picture?

Our RE topic for this term is Buddhism. Have a go at the activity below to learn about Siddharta Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. WEEK 9

 

Hello Year 5  I hope you are all well. Last week I set some questions for embedded learning on our topic - Rivers. Thank you to Alex who sent in a powerpoint in response to the questions set.  Now come on Year 5 it's still not too late for the rest of you to send in your answers too.  I keep saying it - I would love to see what activities you have all been doing. It does not have to be something that I have set for you, it can be any other activities that you have done. Some examples could be baking, sewing, DT, art. You just have to take some photos and email them to                       admin@northwood.bexley.sch.uk.

John Constable was a landscape artist. Read through the powerpoint to find out more about him. Once you have done this, draw a picture of your local area in the style of John Constable. You can use watercolour paints, chalk or pastels in your picture.

 

Don't forget to email in your pictures.laugh Look after yourselves and try to stay positive.

Hi Chetam, it's good to hear from you. Thank you for emailing some of the work you have done. Have a look at the previous weeks - there are lots of different activities for you to try.  I look forward to seeing what else you have been working on.
Chetam it's good to see the work you have done so far. Have a look at Week 5, there is a Victorian Activities Mat with different tasks for you to do. You could have a go at some or all of those.  During Week 7 Amelia posted a poem about COVID19. You could have a go at writing your own version (think about the work we did on  personification). Friday 8th May 2020 is VE DAY. VE stands for Victory in Europe.  It is also 75 years since the end of fighting in Europe. Click on the link below to find out more and try some of the activities.

Hi Aleks it's great to hear from you.smiley I enjoyed reading through the work you have done on The Gruffalo. You did some rhyming about the Gruffalo. What if YOU were the Gruffalo? You could try writing a short poem in first person as the Gruffalo. Another idea is what if the Gruffalo became a herbivore? You could design another menu. What type of plants would he eat? 

 

Have you had a go at making the viking ships and testing them out yet?

Are you still keeping up with your steps?

I have downloaded  a comprehension for you to read and there are some questions for you to answer as well as a wordsearch to complete. There are 3 different levels of questions so everyone can have a go. The answers are included too. Once you have finished, ask an adult to mark the questions for you. Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a great Christmas and are ready for another busy term ahead.

In maths we will be working on statistics, measures, angles, perimeter and area as well as improving our knowledge and skills in reasoning and problem solving. laugh

"We used our skills that we have been improving on in netball to play hand tennis. In netball we have to use chest passes  (our hands need to be placed correctly on the ball)  and in hand tennis we have to make sure our hands (that we use as rackets) are flat and our fingers are closed so the ball does not slip through. We need to make sure that our partner is ready to catch the ball."  Daniel.
