On Wednesday 25th September Bexley’s Mayor, Cllr Geraldine Lucia-Henis attended a special Assembly at Northwood to formally present our School of Sanctuary award, and to visit the new road crossing in Yarnton Way - the result of a campaign by Northwood pupils and staff.
We were very pleased to welcome The Mayor and her Consort, her driver Paul, plus two members of Bexley's Road Safety team, Sally Barratt and Mark Bunting.
In Assembly the Mayor presented our School of Sanctuary Ambassadors with the prestigious award. We are the first school in London to have been recognised as a School of Sanctuary. After the presentation the school joined together to sing our 'Northwood Song' which our visitors particularly enjoyed.
After Assembly our Ambassadors and our Junior Road Safety Officers walked with the Mayor and our visitors up to the new road crossing in Yarnton Way. We are delighted that Bexley Council agreed to it's installation making it much safer for both our children and local residents to cross safely.
Please do take a look at the photos from the event. We especially love the 'Beatles' style photo of the group crossing the road!
