Which continent is Kenya in? Where is Africa? What other countries are nearby? Which oceans are near to Kenya? Where is the UK located in relation to Kenya? Look closer at a detailed map of Kenya: What is in the north, east, south and west of the country? What do you think the weather/climate will be like in Kenya? What is the capital city called? Where is it located? Where are the other main cities? Rivers? Mountains?

Horrible Histories - The Monarchs Song - Towards the end of Spring term 2, Year 1 began learning about famous Kings and Queens as part of their History topic. We hope you all enjoy continuing this topic at home.

Could you name all the Kings and Queens of England? I wonder if you could learn and recite some of the song yourself.

Activity 1 - To find out about some important British monarchs.

Place up to 5 famous British monarchs on the timeline in chronological order.

Deepen your knowledge about Queen Victoria or choose another monarch of your choice to write a fact file about.

Activity 2 - To find out how the title of King or Queen is inherited and how family history can be represented.

Activity 3 - To understand how we know about the life and death of Richard III and find out some key facts about the life of Richard III.

Year 1 Science - An introduction to the Science topic 'Everyday Materials'.

Watch this video link as an introduction to our new Science topic for this half term.

Activity 1 - To identify and name a variety of everyday materials, including wood, plastic, metal, water and rock.

Activity 2 - To distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made.

Learn about the properties of different materials.

Activity 3 - To describe the properties of everyday materials by looking and touching.

Activity 4 - To describe the simple physical properties of a variety of everyday materials by testing different objects. (Choose 1 test)

Follow Lesson Presentation- Activity- Choose your own sorting criteria, take a pictures of the objects you have sorted. E.g. smooth/rough, wood/plastic

Activity 5 - To compare and group together a variety of everyday materials, sorting objects on the basic of their simple physical properties. (Choose your own sorting criteria from the examples below)
