Wind Farm debate

We learned about wind farms from our friends from Beaver Falls School in New York. Local experts told us about the wind farms and how important they were to the local community. We then did our own research using Espresso and the Internet. We prepared arguements in favour and against wind farms. Children recognised that wind farms save oil, reduce global warming and do not cause pollution But when they heard that occasionally birds fly into a turbine the debate was won. The vast majority of children were against wind farms as they could cause birds to die.

Although everyone agreed with the idea that "We Need Wind Farms to Save Global Warming" the arguement that won the debate was the thought that some birds could fly into the turbine and die. Not a nice way to die!
